Plant of the Nightshade

This sophisticated Anglo-Japanese dish tastes almost as good as it costs. Best enjoyed with white wine from a PET bottle.

Ingredients:

3 medium-sized potatoes
3 or so squeezes of Kewpie mayonnaise
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
Some water
3 shakes of salt

Note on sourcing the ingredients: small, grubby potatoes are available pre-bagged from the Lawsons just down the street; loose, heftier potatoes with flaking skin are available from the supermarket a few minutes further up, where you can also obtain the correct brand of mayonnaise and a small vial of soy sauce; salt and water are provided at your accommodation.

Method:

Place three of the potatoes in a saucepan, cover with water and salt and a lid, and put over high heat. When boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and cook the potatoes until tender. Drain and transfer the potatoes to a white plastic bowl. Mash roughly with a fork and mix in the mayonnaise and soy sauce. Serves one.

  1. Small vile. I suspect it's a typographical error but it serves as a pun.
